Please read all of these rules carefully. These concern all character developement and creation. Ignorance is not an excuse.
1. Fill out the form. For every single character you wish to roleplay here, you MUST fill out the form on the Newcomers board. This includes any adoptables or pups. This allows us to keep track of the characters here, and you to develope a bit before you roleplay.
2. Roleplay sample. The roleplay sample is ONLY needed for your first character. After that, just remove it from the form. However, the sample must be 200 words or longer, about the character, in a relevant situation. No, you may not use one from other sites. You can use this as your first post on the site, if you like.
3. Wait for acceptance. Wait for your character to be accepted. Regardless of it's your first, or your tenth. We do this to keep characters proper to the site, and to keep things organized. Any posts made with unaccepted characters will be deleted, and you'll receive a warning for each.
4. No limit. No, there is no limit to how many characters you may make. As long as each follows the site rules, you can make one, five, twelve, seven, or as many as you want. However, the next rule continues this.
5. Keep them active. If we see you're letting characters rot, we'll mention it to you. If you don't improve activity, you'll be made give some up -- either deem them dead, or put them for adoption. If it comes to this, you won't be permitted anymore characters on the site, unless you show yourself to keep all active for several weeks. Yes, several weeks. And then you will only be allowed to make one or two.
6. Realism. To put this simply; we require realism. No wings, horns, weird colors. Fur colors, patterns, size, builts, eyes, must all be realistic to the dog's breed. I'll be using a site to verify anything strange. That site is 'Dog Breed Info', so I recommend that as your first resource for determining what's realistic.
7. Mutts and mixes. I encourage you to make mutts and mixes! A large part of street dogs will not be pedigree. First generation street dogs might be, however, second generation onward will rarely occur. Because dogs don't look for the same breed to mate with. A mix is two breeds; a mutt is three or four. Four is the maximum. A dog can be just a 'mutt', however, you need a picture reference for it to ensure realism.
8. Uncommon breeds. I won't go and find a list of every dog breed in the world, then spend hours trying to organize it by how common each breed is, however, do keep in mind if you try to make a dog and it's a highly uncommon breed or expensive, you'll need an excellent backstory for why it's a stray in NYC. You may be told you can't make it, so be prepared for that risk.
9. Accessories. Yes, your dog may wear accessories. But they have to be realistic. A dog born and raised on the streets most likely won't have any accessories. Collars, choker chains, bandanas are all acceptable for dogs that have had human contact. For smaller breeds, dog clothes are acceptable, but keep the season and weather in mind.
10. Mixed Pups. Any pups resulting from a mating of any type ( commonxrare, rarexrare, etc. ) do NOT need to be bought in the shop. Purchasing in the shop of breeds or mixes is strictly for creating the character from scratch, and this doesn't include litters.
11. Stock Images. All images used on the site must be stock images. This means they must be found on sites such as deviantArt or Flickr using specific methods of search to find only images that allow you to USE them. If, by chance, your an artist of some sort. You MAY draw your character's images, instead. But everything still must be realistic.
